When a business owner uses his power and wealth
to hurt Jewish children and families, that person no longer should be supported
by the very community that made him wealthy.
The person we speak of is: Chaim Rubin, owner of Grand Sterling at 4921 13th Avenue in Brooklyn. As a power wielding board member, Mr. Rubin has taken the Germans’ job of “selectzia” by deciding who passes his personal standards to be accepted in the Veiner mosdos in Boro Park and who does not; by determining who's good enough and who's not; by judging who’s Heimish enough and who's not. His standards, tragically, are based on money, ego and influence.
In the process, he and others have had an terrifying effect on Jewish families who struggle with placing their sons in suitable mosdos, causing untold shalom bais problems, putting good children at risk. Dozens of desperate parents are spending their meager savings on consulting fees and therapy for their rejected boys/girls. If they were richer, perhaps, they might meet Mr. Rubin’s shallow qualifications.
As a community that cares for our children, we cannot in good conscience support the business of such a man, or men like him. We cannot purchase merchandise at Grand Sterling, or in any place that uses its profits to hurt innocent children who also deserve a good Torah education.
Out of respect for our community, and out of responsibility for our children's future, we must not stand silently while Mr. Rubin and his family enjoy a life of luxury. There are plenty of fine silver shops in our area that serve our community, that do no harm, and would welcome our business.
When you are shopping this Chanukah, avoid Grand Sterling like the plague, because it is really like one. Rather, spend your hard earned money at a shop that has no such stain. We recommend doing business at any of the following stores:

ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have a picture of this chaim rubin?
we believe boro park needs more people like Reb Chaim, he can help us clean our schools from the dirt garbage....
ReplyDeletelet him help without our money lets see how long this wiseguy will last once we start a real boycott !
ReplyDeletePinchas Roth is his partner in crime. He is a big "sheigitz" as well.
ReplyDeleteEveryone needs to know about their evil ways.

ReplyDeleteI guess the people that stick up for people on any vaad never dealt with them. So I ask you please put your self in other peoples shoes and see the otherside because you never know when your or childrenss day will come.
ReplyDeletei guess you dont understand what heimish is ! i dont want my childern to learn with every bum of boro park and i want to give them a great school like vien !
ReplyDeleteHeimish means nothing!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe new excuse to terrorize others is because he is not "heimish" Hitler did not discriminate between heimish and not! Any way who is to say who is heimish!?!
ReplyDeleteI heard he was rejected from gan eden. Not heimish enough
ReplyDeletealthough i never tried to get into this mosod, i do understand the pain of a parent that has issues with a "vaad member," but since when is the internet a forum to air our community's dirty laundry? If no one is in physical danger then you should be going to B"D, if there is physical danger, then you should call 911.
ReplyDeleteyou should concider yourself lucky that you did not have any problems ever ! i know of to many people that had many kids and never had problems only with one and then they saw what other people have to suffer
ReplyDeletewake up and stop this madness before you will feel it on your own family
So now the "vaad" non sense is coming to BP? I thought only in Monsey they have this garbage... Yuck! They are the most evil bitter jealous people. I know them well. They want you to look as misreable as them or else.
ReplyDeletethe only way to fight this crazyness is to hit the so called "vaad members" in their pockets....I WILL NOT STEP INTO any posted vaad buisiness that the owner is a RUSHU.
ReplyDeleteI will start a movement of the same in Lakewood where the Jewish Kapos are doing Selekzia's (without the nazi's forcing them)....
Lakewood resident gives a vote of support to boycott GRAND STERLING

Deleteand my mind trembles at the thought of you taking whatever you read at face value
Deleteit is auful to read this in a public forum. this should be taken to a bais din.
ReplyDeletebut who am i to say this when people are hurt in such a terrible way.
Rubin should be ashamed of himself and all BP'ers should stay away as best as they can from Grand
WHEW! I dont think anyone ever made such a quick u-turn!
DeleteHow can I contribute to this noble cause...
ReplyDeleteBoycott Grand!
Way to go and fight the terror
So then go to a different school! Every private school Jewish or not has thier standereds ifbu dont like it eiather adapt to the schools standers or find a school that fits you're Childs and bacround needs. The only other option is public school. I don't think that you're reson is a cause to boycott a establishment!!!! And to compare him to the nazis shame on u!!! It's a private school they can do what they want. Ps : I'm not Hasidic or ultra orthodox. Just came across this blog and had to comment.
ReplyDeleteNEW RISHUS COMING FROM GRAND AND COMPANY
ReplyDeletewhat a disgrace
ReplyDeleteI'm just saw the speech that his Rebbe gave on the 7th of Adar about schools taking only "so called" top of the line...he called it correctly a "chorban"
ReplyDeleteI do not live in Boro Park but I am an Orthodox frum woman. I feel for those of you who felt scorned by this man. I do not believe, however, that speaking loshon hora for the rest of the world to witness is the way to handle such a situation. What a chilul Hashem!! Bring your issues to a Bais din and shop elsewhere. The biggest embarrassment for me is reading the comments written but so many of your community. I am cringing by the awful spelling and lack of grammar used by most of you. THAT TO IS A CHILUL HASHEM!!! You are adults with children. Its time you learn the english language.
ReplyDeleteI am frum and a former editor. Your comment has the following typos:
ReplyDelete... comments written by, not but
... cringing at, not cringing by. By is a Yiddishism. To your point, it isn't English.
That too, not to.
Get off your high horse and improve YOUR English before you criticize other people.
